Sherrington is proud to be the retained executive search partner for Active Cheshire, the charity that tackles inactivity in Cheshire and Warrington, in its search for a new Chief Executive.
The problem of inactivity is rising. Our lifestyles have become increasingly sedentary and we are collectively now less active than in any time in human history. Evidence now links physical inactivity with a growing range of acute, chronic and life threatening diseases as well as poor mental health. In 2018, findings of The Active Lives Survey showed that 23.6% of people in Cheshire and Warrington are inactive, with 178,100 people engaging in less than 30 minutes of physical activity per week. The problem has been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The good news is that Public Health England research suggests that regular exercise can significantly reduce the risk of disease whilst reducing stress and improving mood and self-confidence.
Active Cheshire’s mission is to embed physical activity into all aspects of everyday life by 2040. It is a multi-award winning charity that is passionate about positively changing the lives of the people in Cheshire & Warrington region and beyond.
First formed in 1989, Active Cheshire now takes a whole system approach to work with a diverse range of organisations to have a positive impact in all walks of life; ensuring people can embed activity into all aspects of everyday life – at home, school, in the workplace and everywhere in between.
Active Cheshire works with public health, local businesses, local government, education, environment, infrastructure and transport partners to name a few, ensuring people can get active at home, school, in the workplace and everywhere in between.
We are now seeking a highly capable CEO to lead Active Cheshire through these changing times and accomplish the charity's goal of supporting a healthy, active lifestyle for the residents of Cheshire. We are looking for an experienced strategic leader who embodies the team's shared values of Pride, Passion and Creativity, bringing strategic vision and leadership skills to drive the charity forward.
