Sherrington Associates is a multi-award-winning, B Corp executive and non-executive search firm based in Chester, delivering ‘Values-Based-Recruitment’ for clients who need senior teams that embody the principles of sustainable leadership. Founded by Rob and Joanne McKay in July 2014, the business has grown to develop a reputation as a leading ‘boutique’ executive search firm in region, with an emphasis on recruiting leaders for purposeful clients who know the benefit of hiring for values.
Having steadily grown the business since 2014, Sherrington have now developed a reputation locally as one of the go-to boutique executive search providers in the region. The business has grown entirely organically, with no borrowing and 100% equity held by the two directors. Our frugal management of company accounts meant that despite the inevitable slowdown in recruitment during 2020, Sherrington has emerged in a strong position and well positioned to take advantage of the growth opportunities presented during the recovery period.
Sherrington’s’ client base is a diverse collection of corporates and private businesses, charities and public sector organisations, accumulated through many years working in the recruitment sector. This diversity makes the business far more resilient to future economic downturns than our counterparts in sector-specific recruitment companies. Our sector agnosticism means we’re better placed to consult objectively when recruiting for our clients, advising on adjacent talent pools which can be unfamiliar but highly advantageous to our clients. Due to continued expansion, we are now looking to appoint a new Researcher to the team.
Executive Search Researcher
The Role:
- To support the growth of Sherrington Associates by playing an integral role in the recruitment of exceptional senior leaders and directors for our clients.
- To competently manage the front-end delivery phases of retained executive search projects, including research, mapping and identification, candidate engagement and assessment, leading to more rounded 360 delivery as the role develops.
- Supporting the directors and consultants to develop accurate client briefs, working with senior client stakeholders to manage the search process and continually developing relationships with clients.
- To manage client relationships, applying intelligent account development techniques to inspire repeat business and forge long term, value-adding, consultative partnerships.
The Candidate:
- Has experience in a B2B client-focused, supportive research, client liaison or account management role where both interpersonal skills and an emphasis on client delivery are key (leadership recruitment experience is advantageous but not essential).
- Demonstrates enthusiasm, naturally warm and personable, exceptionally well organised and able to multi-task.
- Articulate, bright and able to deal build trust and credibility with C-suite stakeholders and boards of directors in diverse organisations across multiple industries.
- Quality orientated with exceptional attention to detail and a relentless focus on exceeding client expectations.
- Resilient and able to balance multiple challenging assignments simultaneously
- Curious, creative and enjoys the challenge of time-sensitive projects that require imagination to achieve results.
- Is broadly aware of current affairs and is interested leadership issues such as sustainability, governance, culture and performance.
- Ethical, purposeful, with a strong moral compass and is highly motivated by building a long-term career within an expanding boutique search and selection business.

Salary Bandings:
Researcher: £20,000 - £25,000 (depending on experience)
Senior Researcher: £25,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience)
Executive Search Consultant: £30,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)
